Burning The Map

“Expectation is premeditated disappointment.” -Rinpoche
Hard as this is, this is where the inner journey begins, when all we’ve carried has served its purpose and now we must burn our expectations to light our way. This is when the soul shows itself, if we listen. Rev. Pam Herdy shares her openhearted wisdom this Sunday.

We will explore the three higher reaches of wisdom this week. Subtle wisdom of the mind, wisdom of pure consciousness and non dual wisdom will provide the dance floor for this exploration.

This is a replay of a talk David gave in 2014:

When the landscape of the soul becomes a priority for the Divine Imagination we bloom and grow in beauty, truth and love. The heart and soul open to the Inner Gardener who tends the Living Soul as if it were a rare and exotic garden. Rumi called it “the Orchard.” I will meet you there, he said. Let us join him.

Shirley Chisholm said, “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth.” All we have to ask is from the song by John Astin, “Why have you come to Earth, do you remember.” to which he sings, “To love, serve, and remember…to love, serve, and remember to love.”

We are having technical difficulties with our audio recording equipment. This is a re-podcast of David's talk from January 22, 2012. See if/how he is different after five years.

There is a powerful wildness in our Soul that is the Infinite, awesome mystery of Life Itself. Could we allow our soul to break through the confines of our worldly acceptability? What would life be like if we allowed our True Self to lead the way?

When we awaken to the abundant blessings surrounding us now, doors get unlocked for the Infinite Good to flow freely. What are we willing to be and do to receive life’s abundant blessings? All we have to offer Life is our capacity to be absorbed by It. Ponder that.

My favorite word is YES. It is followed by WOW. When we find blessings in the smallest of things it is better than winning the lottery. Living in a consciousness of gratitude establishes us in that receptive place of being blessed in all things.

In life we must first deny before we can affirm. We discover what doesn’t work for us and are able to arrive at a new way of being. Ironically the mistakes are necessary along the path. They serve us when we can thank them for their new found clarity and resolve.

Rumi tells us that being human is like a Guest House. There comes a knocking at the door of consciousness. All sorts of thoughts, worries, fears and concerns are there. Invite them in. They may be there to help clean house and to create a new design for living.
